Valentino and his red dresses are a legendary sensation, and now his red jackets will be, too! This lacy black dress is adorable, and with the booties, gloves and tights is totally chic, but the long red jacket makes the outfit a hit. Adding little pops of color to an ensemble (like colorful gloves, shoes, scarf, belt, etc) adds an element of surprise, and makes an outfit one worth noticing. This red jacket of course would have people looking, and in a positive way. It's quite Jackie O/Audrey Hepburn, so it's immediately impressive! Look below for other great jackets and blazers. This upcoming season is stocked with great ones to keep us warm, cozy, and totally chic :).

Peta May Have a Problem with Proenza
This jacket is just awesome. The big fur bands around the wrists, the high collar, the buttons, and the length all make the jacket of my dreams. If I didn't know what to wear one day I'd just be like, "Hey! Let me throw on that huge, fashionable jacket I have and everybody will be swooning". But if I did have something cute (and probably shiny and short and just plain awesome) underneath, I would wear this to my party, have everyone marveling over it, and then take it off and reveal my also-as-cool dress underneath, and totally be the hit of the party. Even though these fantasies won't come true, I still love this Proenza Schouler jacket. I don't know how Peta feels about it (maybe the fur is fake?) but I certainly adore it. It's just so... breathtakingly amazing.
European Style
This Elsa herringbone jacket (available at gorsuchltd.com) is the perfect New England fox hunt jacket, and I will definitely be wearing it to the start of the hunt this season. Just thought I'd share my great find.
Plaid Perfection
This outfit really won my heart. I love that cute, little black dress, the black tights, the beaded necklace and the big bow, and of course, the jacket. The only thing I don't really like are those two-toned boots... they make my feet look disproportionate. Besides that, though, this whole outfit is a hit. The plaid jacket adds edgy sophistication to the ensemble, and could to any outfit. Chanel, no surprise here, has done it again!
Balenciaga's Blazers
Blazers are brilliant. They are sophisticated and smart, and can make any outfit look put together. No matter how they are worn- loose over a dress, loose over a t and jeans, tight with a skirt, etc.- they always pull through. Blazers aren't the type of jacket you have to take off when you step inside, since they are part of an outfit. That way, if someone's house is freezing but you don't want to be impolite and ask for them to turn up the heat, your blazer will keep you warm and protected. It's sort of like a security guard- it will comfort you, keep you safe, and keep you stylish. Pictured is a Balenciaga blazer.
Plush Prada
Textured clothing is definitely 'in' for fall, but I cannot understand this jacket. Although some may call it stylish, and I cannot deny that it is comfortable, it's just so... unattractive. It looks like a plush carpet was made into a jacket and supposed to be high fashion. I just don't understand it. I do love Prada, but I cannot say that this collection was my favorite.
Cheap & Definitely Chic
The Moschino Cheap & Chic magazine ad really grabbed my attention. It was simple and cute, and showed off the outfits in a fun way. Not only was the ad well done, or the collection's runway utterly unique, but so were the clothes. The dog purse may be a bit less chic than other parts of the collection, but it is a fun touch to any outfit (and Asia's going to love it). The tights and black pumps on this outfit, of course, are a hit, and the purple capelet is a great way to shield one's self from the cold without putting on a heavy jacket. The classic houndstooth pattern was blown up and put on dresses, coats and the like. This collection really made me smile.
Fabulous Phi
Okay, the boots are a little Britney Spears trying to be sexy in that music video she paid for herself kind of way, but for some reason I really like this outfit. I like the way all the layers (the sweater, turtleneck and skirt) are pulled together by that low-waisted belt, and I like how the sweater latches on the left hand side. This is a chic, fall outfit that I can totally see being worn in New York, and was designed by Phi.
Pops of Brilliance
I love dresses. Although it is sort of hard to see this Valentino dress, I can tell it's a winner by the way it is cut. The strapless shell cut is my absolute favorite. Besides the dress, I love that necklace! It adds a special touch to an already fabulous dress, making the whole ensemble A+. The outfit is classy and chic, and I'm just utterly obsessed!
Smart Stella
Before I get to how great this dress is, look at the model behind the one wearing this dress- doesn't her foot look as if it is about to fall off? Yeah, I was really confused, too. Anyway, this dress is superb. It fits a slender body perfectly so that it shows off the slim waist, but also shows curves (or curve potential). The transparent turtleneck is a great touch because it makes this fabulous dress a fall one, but the shell cutout of a strapless dress is still there. Two words: loves it. Oh, and it's Stella McCartney (obviously).
Stunning Stella
This cute little Stella McCartney number is flirty and feminine, and really looks like it would be fun to wear. It's one of those dresses people wear when they know they're hott and will only attract positive attention while wearing this. I really want this dress... and that's pretty much all I can think about right now, so sorry about this short post!
Fantastic Fur
This dress is major (as Victoria Beckham would say). It is classy and chic, and the fur at the bottom really makes the dress. Of course the upper half is beautiful with the intricate details and ties, but the fur (for me, at least) makes the dress one I have to have (like Sarah Jessica Parker and her new fragrance, Covet). Proenza Schouler has but another hit!
Crown Control
My dream has always been to be a princess. My friends still make fun of me because when we go to rent DVDs or even to CVS, the Disney Princess chapstick, birthday cards, or Princess Collection movies always catch my eye. Marc Jacobs may have realized this fantasy of mine by putting crowns on his models on his runway. Along with the crowns, however, (which I'm not sure caught people's attention as quickly as it did mine) were cute coats and frocks, like this one. It looks so flouncy and feminine, I had to put it on EB Rue! I would love to wear this dress to Christmas dinner... it has the wintery, elegant feel that I love so much. Also, the tights are great for fall!
Poiret's Legacy
Poiret, the self-proclaimed "King of Fashion", was the inspiration for many fall runway looks. From Proenza Schouler to Thakoon, his Art Deco details and boxy tunics were hard to miss. Pictured is a Maxstudio dress that fits the mold for Poiret's creative genius.
Snobs for Sang A
Sang A is becoming a well known name, and for good reason. Her clutches are to-die-for! This blue python clutch is perfect for a night out, and her crocodile clutches are perfect for daywear, as well as evening. Available at bagsnob.com.
Bring on the Beret
Slouchy berets are already gracing our favorite celebrities (see below), but the classic beret, like this one available at House of Fraser, are not only for francophiles like myself anymore. Seen on the Louis Vuitton runway, among others, this is a sure staple for our fall closets.
Thunderbird Style
John Travolta made leather jackets sexy and stylish in "Grease", but after their heyday it seemed as if leather jackets were only worn by pumped up, tattooed motorcyclists. Not so anymore! Leather jackets were all over the fall '07 runways, and all over the men's '08 runways. Of course, Ashley Olsen was all over this trend before it even became big. She is wearing a Rick Owens leather jacket. Another trend she is pulling off perfectly is the red, slouchy, knit beret. These will be big for fall, and are available at urbanoutfitters.com.
Elizabeth & James is a Hit
Mary-Kate and Ashley's new line, Elizabeth & James (named after their not-so-famous siblings), is terrific! None of their lines have disappointed, but with so many celebrities now coming out with clothing lines, it is not only hard to not mix up the names of the lines, but the clothes all start to look the same. Elizabeth & James is a different. The Olsen twins are true fashionistas themselves, so their clothes have that unique distinction that they share. Edgy, sophisticated, and perfect for a night-on-the-town or hanging out with friends, this line is sure to be a success! Available at nordstom.com.
Amanda's Amazing
Sarah Michelle Gellar wore this dress and blew people away. Amanda Wakeley really knew what she was doing when she created this dress. It's simple, but the cut flatters the body, and the crossing of the top makes the dress unique and beautiful!
